2027 dates behind this guide
The dates below come from the shared Holiday Network calendar. Coverage and restricted-application notes are part of each entry.

A show day is a regional holiday, not an NT-wide day off
Darwin Show Day is not automatically a holiday in Alice Springs, and Katherine’s date is not a territory-wide closure. The same principle applies to all five regions. A business with locations in different areas may therefore have different holiday schedules across its branches.
Start with the NT Government’s holiday page and its linked show-day regions map. The regional calendar on this site is a convenient comparison, but the official geographical boundary resolves coverage questions. A town name is a useful label rather than a complete description of the region.
How the 2027 show-day sequence works
The first four entries run through successive Fridays in July: Alice Springs on 2 July, Tennant Creek on 9 July, Katherine on 16 July and Darwin on 23 July. Borroloola follows on Friday 13 August. The table below keeps the dates together so a visitor or multi-location business can compare them quickly.
The sequence is useful for planning, but do not derive a future year’s dates from it without checking the status. A recurring pattern can support a provisional estimate; an official year-specific table is stronger evidence. The shared 2027 dataset marks the dates below as officially confirmed.

Check your workplace against the region before choosing a date
Use the place where the relevant work arrangement applies and the official regional description. If you are close to a boundary, work across several areas or have an unusual roster, confirm the arrangement with your employer instead of choosing whichever show is nearest to home.
For a shared trip, each travelling adult may need a separate calendar check. One person could have a regional Friday holiday while another needs approved leave on that Friday. Identify that difference early so the itinerary does not assume everyone has the same three-day weekend.
Event opening days and the public holiday can differ
A show programme may include multiple days, different sessions and separate ticket conditions. The public holiday calendar identifies the declared holiday date and region; it does not confirm the entire event programme. The photographs in this guide show NT places rather than claiming to document a particular 2027 show.
Use the event organiser’s current information for tickets, opening times, transport and accessibility. Use the official calendar for the day-off question. Keeping these checks separate is particularly helpful when planning to attend a show outside your own holiday region.
What a Friday show holiday means for leave planning
Where a Friday show holiday applies, a standard Saturday–Sunday roster can create a three-day break without an extra leave weekday. Four approved leave days from Monday to Thursday before that Friday could join the previous weekend, making nine days away. That calculation depends on the local holiday and the actual roster.
Do not add another region’s show day to extend the same break. For example, living in the Darwin region does not make Katherine’s Friday holiday another day off. Compare the Darwin, Katherine and Alice Springs pages for coverage-specific notes.
A useful checklist for businesses and families
Record the show-day name, date, applicable region and normal roster together. Confirm leave approvals for anyone without that regional holiday. Then check event details and destination services separately. For businesses, describe the location-specific closure clearly so customers elsewhere know whether their local branch is affected.
The territory-wide calendar provides the shared dates around the show season, including Picnic Day on Monday 2 August. Our long-weekend guide compares territory-wide breaks with the local Friday opportunities.
